Implementation of SMART TV Technology in Increasing Learning Motivation for Islamic Education (PAI) at MTs N I Tana Toraja
Abstract
This research is motivated by the fact that the development of technology in learning is a demand that must be embraced by teachers in an effort to improve the quality of education. One such technology is the use of Smart TV. This study aims to understand the overview, urgency, supporting factors, and obstacles in using Smart TV to foster motivation for learning Islamic Education (PAI) among class VIII A students at MTsN 1 Tana Toraja. This research prioritizes direct observation of the object in the research location, hence the chosen research type is qualitative with a descriptive approach, located at MTsN 1 Tana Toraja. The data sources in this research include primary data sources, which consist of class VIII A students and Islamic Education teachers, as well as secondary data sources, which include the head of the madrasa, vice principals in the curriculum field, general teachers, educational staff, and documents. The data collection procedures involve observation, interviews, and documentation, followed by data analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of the research are as follows: 1). The use of Smart TV in fostering students' motivation for learning PAI must be well-prepared by planning and adjusting the materials, tools used, and the content to be taught. 2). The urgency of using Smart TV in fostering students' motivation for learning PAI is not only due to the demands of the modern era that utilizes technology but also as a variation in learning to enhance students' motivation. 3). The supporting factors for using Smart TV in fostering students' motivation for learning PAI include the guidelines for organizing Digital Madrasas by the Religious Research and Development Center Jakarta in 2019, support from the head of the madrasa, and available facilities such as laptops and Wi-Fi. The obstacles include the lack of Smart TV facilities in classrooms, slow laptop access, Wi-Fi disruptions, and power outages during lessons.
