Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) Arabic language skills of students of Madrasah Tasanawiyah Muhammadiyah Ereng-ereng; 2) interest in memorising the Quran of Madrasah Tasanawiyah Muhammadiyah Ereng-ereng students and; 3) the effect of Arabic language skills on interest in memorising the Quran of Madrasah Tasanawiyah Muhammadiyah Ereng-ereng students. This type of research is correlational research and uses a quantitative approach. The sample in this study amounted to 72 students with a population of 72 students. The sampling technique used total sampling. Data collection methods are in the form of questionnaires and documentation. To analyse the data, researchers used the Product Moment formula. The results showed that, 1) the Arabic language ability of Madrasah Tasanawiyah Muhammadiyah Ereng-ereng students based on the results of the study was at a fairly high level. This is evidenced by the known average is 73.67. 2) Interest in memorising the Quran of Madrasah Tasanawiyah Muhammadiyah Ereng-ereng students based on the research results is at a fairly high level. This is evidenced by the known average is 70.25. 3) The research results obtained are rxy of 0.63 greater than r table at a significant level of 5% 0.63 ≥ 0.232. So that the hypothesis in this study is accepted, meaning that Arabic Language Ability (X) has a Significant Effect on the Interest in Memorising the Quran of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ereng Students, Tompobulu District, Bantaeng Regency. Based on the calculation of KP = r2 x 100%, it is known that the result is 39.69% so it is said that Arabic language ability contributes to the interest in memorising the Quran.
