Increasing Student Interest in Learning Islamic Religious Education and Character through the Drill Method for Class VIII at Al Ikhlas Pinrang Integrated Islamic Middle School

Abstract

The main problem that occurs at Al Ikhlas Pinrang Integrated Islamic Middle School isThe low level of student interest in learning is because the learning method that is often used is the lecture method so that students get bored more quickly and do not pay attention to the teacher's explanations. The aim of this research is to find outprocess and results of applying the drill method in increasing students' interest in learning in learning Islamic Religious Education and Character in class VIII at Al Ikhlas Pinrang Integrated Islamic Middle School. Qualitative research methods carried out inAl Ikhlas Pinrang Integrated Islamic Middle School. Research approach: classroom action research. Research subjects and objects: class VIII A students, interest in learning. Data collection techniques: observation sheets, interviews, documentation. Data analysis techniques: observation, descriptive analysis, quantitative data. Based on the research results, it was found thatThe results of applying the drill method to students' interest in learning Islamic Religious Education and Character in class VIII.A at Al Ikhlas Pinrang Integrated Islamic Middle School in two different cycles, namely the average student score for cycle I was 25.5 and the average The average student score for cycle II was 30.7. This shows that there was an increase in the average score from cycle I to cycle II. In conclusion, the existence of the drill method has been able to increase students' interest in learning in learning Islamic Religious Education and Character in class VIII at Al Ikhlas Pinrang Integrated Islamic Middle School.
