Abstract

This research is motivated by the decline in the discipline
and responsibility of students, both in the school environment
and outside of study hours. In response to this, researchers chose
SMPIT Bani Saleh as a research location to foster students'
disciplined character and responsibility through extracurricular
activities, including the muhadharah program as one of them.
This activity is carried out once a week, on Thursdays with
rotating officers, as an effort to foster the character of discipline
and responsibility in students. The purpose of this research is to
determine the implementation of the muhadharah program, to
determine the supporting factors as well as obstacles and
challenges in cultivating students' disciplined character and
responsibility through the muhadharah program at SMPIT Bani
Saleh. This type of research is qualitative research. Data
collection techniques use observation, interviews and
documentation methods. The validity of the data is obtained
through diligent observation and triangulation. The results of this
research are: (1) Implementation of the muhadharah program in
instilling the character of discipline and responsibility referring
to the participants' duties as well as direct internalization of
character values in the theme of the speech, (2) Support
provided by the school, namely time and determining a
supervising teacher muhadharah, school policies and
infrastructure. (3) The obstacles are lack of student interest,
unsupportive situations and conditions, and lack of talent.
Meanwhile, the challenges that must be faced are for supervisors
to always provide new directions and innovations, for madrasas
to act firmly on lazy students. And for all parties to always
provide input, motivation and enthusiasm to students.
