ADVOCACY FOR HALAL CERTIFICATION LEGAL POLICIES IN INDONESIA
Abstract
Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim
demographic, must be capable of fostering the Islamic economy
within its own borders. The implementation of mandatory halal
certification aims not only to provide legal certainty and
protection for Muslim consumers, but also to strengthen the
Islamic economic framework. This study aims to explore
advocacy strategies related to halal certification legal policies
in Indonesia. The method used in this study is qualitative
research with a descriptive approach. In Indonesia, halal certification will be mandated for all food and beverage
products by 2024. BPJPH, LPH, and MUI are responsible for
the certification process. BPJPH actively educates business
actors about halal certification. Cooperation between the
government, related institutions, and the community is crucial
to ensure products meet halal standards, provide assurance to
Muslim consumers, and enhance the competitiveness of
Indonesian products
